What Is Type 201 Stainless Steel?
Type 201 stainless steel is an alloy that contains half the nickel and more manganese and nitrogen than other popular steels. 201 is an austenitic metal because it is non-magnetic stainless steel that contains high levels of chromium and nickel and low levels of carbon.201 stainless steel sheet(plate) has most of the characteristics of other types of stainless steel plates, but it has no ductility and shape due to its low nickel content. 201 stainless steel plate is the most outstanding environmental protection material, acid and alkali resistance, chemical resistance.
Typical Applications:
Typical applications for Types 201 are cookware, hose clamps, piston rings, transit car structural member, transit car roofing/siding, thermal window spacers, air bag containers, and truck trailer posts and door frames.

201 Stainless Steel Sheet Finishes: (Only 2B and #4 finishes are available at Galion)
HRAP –Is a hot rolled annealed and descaled product resulting in a dull rough surface. It is available in plate and sheet and is used for functional applications where a smooth decorative finish is not important.
2B – A smooth, moderately reflective cold-rolled annealed and pickled or descaled finish typically produced by imparting a final light cold-rolled pass using polished rolls. This general purpose finish is more readily polished than a HRAP finish product.
#3 Polished Finish – A linear texture finish that may be produced by either mechanical polishing or rolling. Average surface roughness may be up to 45 micro inches.
#4 Polished Finish – A linear texture finish that may be produced by either mechanical polishing or rolling. Average surface roughness may be up to 35 micro inches.
